Managing a capital project is no easy task. It is often difficult to please all stakeholders. Colleagues, as well as contrarians, can become instant experts; and every now and then someone “has a connection” who can do it better, cheaper or faster.
Hiring an outside firm to help manage the process can sometimes lead to further frustrations. In some cases, so-called “Project Managers” either know less than the client, or they end up throwing responsibility back to the client or vendors, asking others to perform tasks and answer questions, rather than getting the job done with their own resources.
