MICHAEL FROMM
Founding Principal

Michael Fromm is the Founding Principal of Macro Consultants. With close to 40 years of experience in the real estate, construction and development management business, his career has touched on all key elements of the industry.

Always “ahead of the curve,” Michael was a pioneer of the approach to project and development management that is widely emulated today – that of forward planning and rigorous attention to detail. More recently, this approach has served Macro well as the firm has become more involved in the procurement management of goods and services on behalf of clients involving FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment), Technology, Relocation Services, and Decommissioning.

The business model that Michael developed ensures that every individual involved in the project understands his/her role and responsibilities. What’s left is a transparent process with all costs, affiliations and relationships held up for stark examination, ensuring the best price and performance from every project participant.

This approach has earned Michael the reputation as a leading industry expert and, as such, he has been called upon as an expert witness to offer crucial testimony in several noteworthy real estate and construction-related disputes.

Michael began his career in 1971 as director of marketing with American Housing Systems, Inc. By the mid-70s, he was managing the company’s New Jersey division and was responsible for building a 200 lot single-family subdivision in Barnegat.

In 1976, Michael joined Forest City Enterprises (FCE) in its Winslow Homes subsidiary. It was at this point, early in his career, that Michael recognized the gap between development and construction. All too often, client expectations, project requirements and financial realities would lead to cost overruns and schedule delays. As a result, Michael played an instrumental role in developing FCE’s customer relations and quality control efforts. By the late 70s, he was VP of construction and responsible for all construction and land development work for multi-family projects.

Michael continued his tenure with Forest City Ratner Companies, working with various subsidiaries, until 1993. He spent most of the 1980s working on the development of the MetroTech business complex in downtown Brooklyn, and was directly involved in developing and building 3.3 million square feet throughout six buildings. This project has been a cornerstone in the overall revival and expansion of the Downtown Brooklyn Business District.
